This past trip, I had the amazing opportunity to participate in the Caring for Giants enchanting extra at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. If you love elephants or want a behind-the-scenes Disney experience, this tour is an absolute must!
Here’s everything you need to know about this unforgettable experience:
Tour Overview:
This 60-minute guided tour takes place four times a day (9am, 10am, 1pm, and 2pm).
Tickets are $39 per person, and 100% of the cost goes directly to supporting elephant conservation efforts.
Reservations are required and can be made up to 60 days in advance. Availability is limited to 14 people per group, so booking early is key!
Check-In & Location:
Be sure to check in 15 minutes before your tour.
The guided tour booth is conveniently located next to the Kilimanjaro Safari ride in the Africa section of the park.
Pro tip: If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, take advantage of early entry at 7:30am to enjoy the safari before your tour. The animals were incredibly active when I went!
Tour Highlights:
You’ll go backstage behind the scenes—just remember, no cell phones until you reach the observation platform.
A short bus ride brings you to the elephant observation area, where the elephants receive feeding, medical care, and enrichment.
Once on the platform, you can take as many photos and videos as you want while learning about elephant behavior, family relationships, and conservation efforts.
You’ll even get hands-on with some interesting items, like elephant hair and other safe-to-handle parts!
Fun Facts:
My name tag was made from dried elephant poop and is 100% recyclable!
On my visit, we were lucky enough to see 5 of the 7 elephants at Disney’s Animal Kingdom up close.

Why You’ll Love It:
The tour is educational, interactive, and incredibly rewarding.
You get a rare behind-the-scenes look at how Disney cares for these majestic animals.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for animal lovers, Disney fans, and families alike.
Important Notes:
The tour is subject to availability, and seeing all elephants isn’t guaranteed, but it’s still an experience I would recommend to anyone visiting Animal Kingdom.
