Disney is known for being family friendly and bringing out the inner child in all of us – regardless of age. That also means sometimes they get the rep of being ONLY for kids or families with children. I want to take a couple minutes to bust this myth, particularly for Disney Cruise Line (DCL).
If you’re thinking about a romantic escape, hitting the high seas with Disney could be the perfect option! Of course every ship in the fleet will have children aboard, but you can sneak away to adult-only locations and activities for canoodling and romance.
Let’s take a look at the top fives spaces plus two DCL bonuses!
Nightclubs & Lounges
Each ship offers nighttime hotspots for adults only! By day you may find families enjoying trivia or a craft, but in the evening it’s all about you. Sip on your favorite brandy while taking in a live performance by a piano player, singing duo, guitarist, or other musical act. Laugh until your side hurts from the comedic stylings of a stand-up performer or ventriloquist. Have a little liquid courage and then test out your own bravado with karaoke and dancing. It’s all catered to you!
Tip: My favorite nighttime spot is La Piazza on Disney Fantasy. It always reminds me of a carousel and makes me feel a little bit like I’m in a dreamscape.
Pools
You’re on vacation and you want kid-free R&R. Enjoy a private pool just for the adults! Order a beverage and relax on a lounger while taking in the sights of the sea. Or slip into the pool and let the water melt away your stress.

Cove Café
Near Quiet Cove Pool you’ll find Cove Café. Sit back and relax in this adults-only lounge where you can find specialty drinks, coffee, and tea offerings throughout the day. Or, in the evening grab a cocktail and lite bite. You can even schedule adult beverage tastings for an additional fee.
Dining
While you’ll find couples and families alike in the main dining rotations, it’s also possible to dine kid-free with DCL’s adult-exclusive restaurants. Each ship includes two locations where you can make dining reservations – for an additional fee – to dine without children. These elevated experiences are great for celebrating a special milestone, date night, or even just treating yourself.
Palo features delicious Italian cuisine and my all-time favorite dessert – chocolate souffle! Enjoy it aboard Dream and Magic class ships.
